Russell Hurley, 91, of Hyde died on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born on January 19, 1931 in Clearfield, a son of the late Dewey and Ruth (Hudson) Hurley.
Mr. Hurley was well-known around the area for his involvement with music, especially bluegrass and country. He was also an expert carpenter and woodworker, even being able to make any tool for a job if he had to. Mr. Hurley worked in the parts department at Dotts Motor for numerous years. He had also been employed at Gray Battery and Auto Supply Inc. and McDonald Coal Company. Mr. Hurley served his country with the U. S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Aveni) Hurley of Hyde; six children, Lynn Brennan and husband Michael of Aimes, IA, Jennifer Moore and husband John of Clearfield, Suzanne 'Suzie' Pase and husband John of Mineral Springs, Patricia Karchner and husband Michael of Woodland, Randy Hurley and wife Donna of Clearfield, and Russell 'Rusty' Hurley of Clearfield; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and a sister, Ramona Nelson and husband Glenn of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Bradley Boalich, Jr..
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library 1 S. Front Street, Clearfield.
