Vance Peter 'Pete' Bracken, affectionately known as 'Grumpy', 80, of Curwensville passed away on January 1, 2026, at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
He was born August 18, 1945 in Mahaffey at his grandparent's, the son of the late Clarence and Marjorie (Dickey) Bracken.
Pete graduated from Curwensville High School in 1963. He worked as a builder and owned Bracken Builders with his brother, Larry. He also worked for Thomas Hamilton Church Builders.
He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Western stories. Pete also enjoyed playing cards, playing games on his phone, watching Fox News, being outside, and mostly being surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife Carol (Meckley) Bracken whom he wed July 5, 1997; 5 children, Stephanie (Kevin) Fraeyman, Jeannette (Craig) Bartlett, Georgia (Jeff) Swatsworth, Jennifer (Terry) Bloom, and David Bracken; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; a sister, Janice Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; step children, Clair (Brandi) Lamoreau, Shawn (Joyce) Lamoreau, Cissy (Robert Jr.) Reese; and numerous step grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Kathleen (McNaul) Bracken on August 3, 1990 whom he wed August 13, 1964 in Marlboro, MD. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Bracken; and a grandson, Jameson Swatsworth.
Honoring Mr. Bracken's wishes, there will be no public services.
Interment will be in the Historic Crown Crest Cemetery at a later date.
