William A. Hess, 84, formerly of Frenchville and most recently a resident at Ridgeview Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville died on Friday, January 5, 2007 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on January 20, 1922 in Clearfield, a son of the late Amos and Ruth (Johnston) Hess.
Mr. Hess was employed by Moshannon Falls Mining and was a bus driver.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville, and a life member of the Leigey Renaud Post #8386 Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Frenchville.
Mr. Hess was a WWII veteran and retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service.
He is survived by six children, Linda M. Jackson and husband Walter of Clearfield, Debora K. McCracken of Clearfield, Daniel L. Hess and wife Candy of Frenchville, Kathleen A. Rougeux and husband Stanley of Frenchville, Larry M. Hess and wife Laurie of Frenchville, Cynthia J. Bell and husband David of Frenchville; 15 grandchildren,
Jolene Bell, Alana Wilson, Chad Rougeux, Kevin Jackson, Selena McCracken, Kristy Hess, Kirk Hess, Ryan Hess, Shane Bell, Garrett Bell, Hunter Bell, Troy Hess, Jenna Bell, Brittany Rougeux and Hayden Wilson; three sisters and four brothers, Ruth Luzier, Sara (Sally) Rowles, Mary Harris, John Richard Hess, Andrew Hess, Edmond Hess and James Hess; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Lucille 'Peggy' (Valimont)Hess, on December 28, 1992 and whom he wed July 17, 1948, an infant son Lenny, a granddaughter Jennifer; an infant sister Ramona, a sister M. Rhoda Billotte and a brother Amos P. Hess.
Funeral Services will be held at Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Samuel G. Bungo officiating. Interment will follow in the Saint Mary Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Leigey Renaud Post # 8386 Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7:00 PM and on Monday from 10-11:00 AM.
A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 6:30 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contribution be made to Ridgeview Eldercare Activities Fund or Ridgeview Elder Care Eden Fund, 30 4th Avenue, Curwensville, PA.
