Obituary for John Kupka

John  Kupka
John Kupka, 88 of Clearfield died on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on December 7, 1924 in Svrcinovec, Slovak Republic, a son of the late Matthew and Agnes (Garroy) Kupka.

Mr. Kupka retired from the Central Islip Psychiatric Center, Central Islip, NY after thirty five years of employment.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Jednota Lodge 333 of Grassflat. He was past commander of Herold-Tierny Post No. 1039 of the American Legion, Central Islip, Long Island, NY and a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6.
A veteran of WWII, Mr. Kupka served with Company A 337th Infantry 85 Division of the US Army.

He is survived by his brother Joseph Kupka of North Tonawanda, NY; a step sister, Stella Kopec of Curwensville; an aunt Verona Babulak of Bogny/Mueus, France; a nephew and four nieces; and a cousin, Joe Evanko who cared for John in his latter years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step mother Nellie Kupka; two brothers Matthew P. and Thomas Kupka; two sisters of Slovakia; three step sisters, Anna Ondish, Pauline Coulter and Helen Nypower; and an aunt, Anna Evanko.

Funeral service will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 10 AM with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts' honor guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral on Friday from 9 - 10 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front Street, Clearfield.
