Carol Ann Belin, 79, a resident of Clearfield PA, died Friday, February 27th at 9:30 a.m. at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh PA.

Born October 5th, 1935 in Fremont, NC, Carol was the daughter of Richard Joseph and Lutoria (Davis) Edmundson.

She attended Women’s College of the University of North Carolina, and graduated in 1957 from Atlantic Christian College of Wilson, NC. After she graduated, Carol taught at Camp Lejeune Elementary School where she met Carl A. Belin, Jr. of Clearfield. On November 29th, 1958, Carol married Carl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Goldsboro, NC.

Carol was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Clearfield PA.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Carl A. Belin Jr.; and her six daughters, Barbara (David) Fawns of Treasure Lake PA; Beth (Mark) Franco of Blythewood SC; Susan (Robert) Newell of Coronado CA; Caroline (Edward) Murn of McLean VA; Cynthia (James) Foley of Allison Park PA; and Margaret (David) Temeles of Annandale VA.; Carol is also survived by 22 adoring grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her loving brother Richard Irving Edmundson, and sister Ella Olivia Nevins.

Carol dedicated her life to her family and her community. In addition to raising six daughters, Carol served on Clearfield Borough Council as the Finance Chairperson for 12 years, the Children’s Aid Society and the Clearfield Hospital Auxiliary; Carol also volunteered for various committees at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Clearfield on Friday at 10 AM with Father John L. Miller and Monsignor Henry Krebs as celebrants. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Education Fund-Belin Scholarship, in care of Vicki Meyers, 11 North Second Street, Clearfield PA; St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield PA; or to the charity of donor’s choice.
