Obituary for Donald R. Mikesell

Donald R. Mikesell , 89, of Clearfield passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his home.

He was born on August 6, 1926 in Cloe, a son of the late Warren B. and Mary Estella (Davidson) Mikesell.

Mr. Mikesell was an attorney in Clearfield for 43 years and practiced with his son, Warren B. Mikesell II at Mikesell and Mikesell, Attorneys-at-Law. In addition, he served 34 years with the commonwealth as a workmen's compensation judge.

Donald was the valedictorian of the Class of 1944 at Mahaffey High School. He graduated from both Dickinson College and Dickinson School of Law. He was a member of the Clearfield Bar Association. He attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Clearfield. He was a past Master of Clearfield Masonic Lodge 314.

Being an avid hunter and outdoorsman, he was a life-long member of Pitch Pine Hunting Club. He shared his love of motorcycles and four-wheelers with all of his children and grandchildren.

He served in the US Army Corps in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Ann (Blackburn) Mikesell whom he wed in on November 22, 1956 at the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, Clearfield by Rev. Earl Freeland; six children, Jon C. Mikesell and wife Sue, Warren B. Mikesell II and wife Kim, Annette D. Mikesell and Lloyd Dahlem, Kimberly S. Colavecchi, Robert B. Mikesell and wife Courtney, and Janell K. Danielson and husband Chris; fourteen grandchildren, Stephanie, Claire, Paige and Luke Mikesell; Warren III and Breann Mikesell; Kymberly and Levi Sanchez; Michaela, Carly and Cross Colavecchi; Raegan and Derrick Mikesell; William Danielson; four great grandchildren; and three sisters, Jean Smith, Marion Fujii and Marjorie Bigelow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Marie Mikesell; and a grandson, Michael T. Mikesell.

In accordance to Mr. Mikesell's wishes, all services were private.

The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield are in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Parkinson's Disease Association, 420 East North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 or the Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield.
