Obituary for Kenneth A. Nelson

Kenneth A.  Nelson
Kenneth A. Nelson, 86, of Clearfield went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on July 3, 1926 in Clearfield, a son of the late Ai and Pearl (Miller) Nelson.

Mr. Nelson retired from Kurtz Brothers Co. after 39 years of service. After he retired, he repaired and remodeled several houses in the area. Mr. Nelson enjoyed sports, especially baseball and hunting and also liked going camping with his friends and family. Mr. Nelson was an active member and Deacon of the Riverview Bible Church, Clearfield. Mr. Nelson was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth L. ‘Betty’ (Lansberry) Nelson, whom he wed on June 17, 1950 in Clearfield; two sons K. Craig Nelson and his fiancé Linda Barba of Shawville and Mark A. Nelson and his wife Jenny of Fairfield, OH; two grandchildren, Mark Ryan Nelson and Isabella Nelson both of Ohio; three sisters, Carol Catherman and her husband James, Ruth Bock and her husband William and Shirley Lansberry, all of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Eldon, Richard, Sherman and Willard Nelson; and two sisters, Jane Shugarts and Ella Mae Lindvall.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 11 AM with the Pastor Mark Eveleth officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 PM and on Saturday from 10-11 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Nathaniel D. Yingling Cancer Center, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the Riverview Bible Church, 1107 Riverview Road, Clearfield.
