Charlie,
You were a one of kind gentleman and you will be sorely missed. We had alot of years together and many memories that were built as a family. Some of my favorite times spent with you involved sitting on your back deck and back patio in the summer time. We watched Alicen run around your back yard as a little girl with Kelly who she adored. It didn't matter if we were sitting on the patio down stairs eating peanuts together or sitting up on the deck eating steaks together, I always enjoyed our talks about life, work, and things I am not even sure were fully true. Ha! However, that is what made you unique and I thank you for that with all of my heart. You were a great grandfather to Alicen, whether spoiling her with Candy or Letting her sit in your old Hot Rod, her eyes as a little girl would light up when you spent time with her.
However, my favorite memory of you and I together over many years has to be when you broke down with your Hot Rod in Harrisburg. You just spent the weekend with us in Hanover and enjoyed the whole weekend at the York Hot Rod Nationals were you were so proud of your car. We came to visit you at the show and walked around with you most of the day in the very hot sun. You schooled me on many cars and again told me things that left me thinking. Ha! However when you headed home on Sunday in the very hot afternoon you called me two hours later stating you were broken down west of Harrisburg. I dropped everything to come and pick you up and we spent the rest of the evening heading home with our windows down, laughing about stories, and picking up the parts you needed. The next morning we drove up to the car and I began helping you replace your parts on the hot and hard ground. You pulled a hose off of one of the parts that still had gas in it and the gas went all over your face. I pulled you out from beneath the car and washed your face off with a bottle of water. Shortly afterwards we got the car running and you gave me a big hug, thanked me for helping you and told me that you loved me. That was a defined memory that will always stay with me. After you got on your way, I remember driving home being thankful that we shared that memory together. RIP Chaz and I look forward to hearing more of your stories again some day.
Love,
Al
